Dropped stompThe one criticism I will say about supergirl was that the Director probably was not right for it, considering it was his first superhero film, it felt like it was too much for him and it was out of his comfort zone. Gunn should probably get people that have a resume already.
Probably a red flag to Andy Muschietti and Batman, Gunn can’t direct everything, hopefully DC is more selective when it comes to the Directors.
These types of films are often made by first time CBM directors though. Craig was an impressive pull given the circumstances.
The bigger issue is that when you have these universes with set scripts, set stories, etc.. you limit the directors you can even bring in. The experienced ones want to produce, write and direct their ideas and this doesn't allow that. Not even Gunn himself would sign up for this type of work for hire gig. He was trusted well at Marvel
No one is lining up for this seemingly. Where are the young directors, or unique pitches, people seeking out writing jobs? They gave Nogueiria 3 films without ever having a credit. Then they gave The Flash writer a (alleged) Batman film. Where is everyone?!?
