“Timothee Publicly mocked the genocide happening in an SNL skit” is one of those statements that smells bullshit by the sniff of it, and then you look into it and it’s exactly as bullshit as you anticipated

I had zero interest in this when it was announced, watched the trailer out of curiosity and got interested but then lost interest again when I read they’re hiding the fact that it’s a musical

Willy Wonka is one of my favorite stories ever as a kid, imo this looks wack as hell

I remember reading an article talking about it as well as the new Mean Girls (which is also a musical, but not advertised as such) so at least I find comfort in knowing I'm not the only one

It's definitely a kids movie through and through. A good one at that too, definitely take your younger sibling or cousin to the theatre to watch it.

Story is fine, you've probably seen a version of it sometime before and the musical aspect of the entire thing wasn't unbearable once I grew accustomed to it a few minutes in. Made me a bit hyped for Joker 2.
Timothee did a fine job, didn't really blow my mind like I expected. Oompa Loompa was def my fav even though that role is quite short.

Pacing was great, I didn't feel bored once throughout the movie. Wish they had shown more eccentric types of chocolates.
Wouldn't mind another one in this continuity, though I doubt they'd make it.

Overall 7/10.
