Another day, another job app sent

just had the company wide “we’re doing mass lay offs” meeting and I find out within the next 40 min if I’m axed I was only brought on 5 months ago

they hired someone on my team like 2 weeks ago so it would be really messed up if they cut my team bruh

IM TIRED OF HELPING S***TY AMERICANS WITH THEIR PROBLEMS THAT THEY CAN DEAL WITH ON THEIR OWN MY GOD.

IM NOT EVEN IN AMERICA OR FROM THERE

Need an update

They said if we got axed, we'd get an email for a one on one before 10:45am. I didn't get an email so I assumed I was safe, but I just got a meeting to discuss "this morning's updates" that includes my entire product team

Meeting is in an hour

lunch zoom meetings are so awkward

Seen someone ik at work and now I wanna gouge my eyes out

not at work. But in uni. Just sitting in the library waiting for class. So im bored hehe

there’s nothing cringier to me than mf’s who wear company t-shirts almost exclusively. like it’s so funny to me that you woke up, looked in your closet, and choose to wear a company logo tee to sit on teams meetings all day

edit: the meeting is basically a “people who got saved” chat

damnnnn almost everyone in IT was saved except for the guy who would schedule long ass calls with me, ask me to come to the office, and always did the most…
i feel bad now.

I can't front. I've been phoning it in like a mutherfucker to start this year. still doing good work and getting my s*** done, but I'm procrastinating and pushing things off as much as possible, waking up at the last minute, etc

do you work remote?

yeah I do, but don't know if being in office would change things.

when I'm remote I have a tougher time starting things, but when I'm in I have a harder time focusing on things and think the work I do isn't as good.

my office is out of state so going in routinely isn't particularly realistic anyway.

I found out the guy who got laid off is here until March. I’m not “close” to him, but he’s the person I worked the most with. Do I say something about him being laid off or just ignore it for the rest of our meetings

How is it condescending. Just say u heard and that it sucks and that he lands on his feet and that you really enjoyed your time together. Completely ignoring it is condescending and disrespectful what the hell is wrong with you!!

Idk it just feels gross to be like “sorry to hear what happened, but I’m sure you’ll find something” when it could have been me. you’re right though, feels worse to ignore it lol

sounds awful to say, but this dude was the only dude that made me come to the office for meetings never stepping foot in there again for the near future
