I agree, people should be able to earn a living wage.

I just believe if you truly hate your job to the point you’re mentally defeated, you can find another way for yourself using the system of capitalism . Especially in America .

If you see it as this big scary enemy you won’t be able to use it to your advantage you know?

the thing is that capitalism inherently views the middle/lower class pool as a group of people that must remain to be a source of labor to maintain for business owners. Also, keeping those people down there means you can sell the qualities of being "up there" to them. Do you think things like Gucci and Lamborghinis would be worth the same if everyone had the real opportunity to achieve access to them?

the system inherently requires people to be "down there," and it'll go to immoral lengths to enforce that. You specifically can't have everyone succeed or else the system doesn't work. That's f***ed up and must change

Crazy how this country is predicated on the idea of equality yet business owners are valued more socially

No one is valued the same socially: celebrities, gov't officials, people you know.

That is very true, and unfortunately a lot of people will stay there for their whole life. And it sucks. Does that mean what I’m saying is incorrect though? Like, not everyone has to stay down there. That’s my whole point . And I’m not trying to be hostile bro, I’m just Sharing my views.

To add on, yes I think that’s life though. It’s hierarchy . There will always be “top and bottom” don’t you think ?

If you agree then what you're saying is that people should take advantage of an unjust system for their betterment, knowing that someone will suffer under them

This is a pretty obviously problematic worldview to hold. Why not work to change the s***ty system, especially considering your view of there always being a "top and bottom." Why don't we change whos at the top and bottom? Why don't workers come together, and create a system where they're at the top and the business owner is at the bottom?

I mean, workers are the source of most of the value that capitalism generates. Wealth can't exist without labor behind it. Why don't we work towards power structures that accurately reflect this?

Precisely. This is the contradiction that I am pointing out and want to work against. All people deserve to be valued in relation to something beyond their position in society, in an equal manner

To say you care about (in)equality and then partake in and defend this system is contradictory and ridden with problems

A lot of jobs wont hire you unless you have a college degree and even then the workforce is about experience and connections more than anything

A lot of people arent afforded those luxuries and take what they can get to pay the bills because of how expensive rent is

bro the point is, is that it’s not really up to you, if you have advantages that’s great i’m glad you’re using them to do your own thing but what is an option to you is not for everybody. if i had cerebral palsy would you be telling to just ride and grind? how does that person lift themselves out of poverty? how does someone with mental disabilities or people without access to education or information. there are entire swaths of people in rural parts of southern us that do not have a access to the internet period. how do they google a new skill set? use this thread as a learning opportunity i imagine you’re in highschool so i’ll use the opening of the great gatsby here “whenever you feel like criticizing anyone, just remember that they haven’t had the same advantages you’ve had”

I believe that changing this system to one you speak of is close to impossible. I refuse to believe the elites would allow it.I believe too many benefit from this current system for them to restructure. At least any time soon. Probably not in our lifetime. So instead of worrying about a society, I choose to focus on myself, my family, and friends.( the good people in my life) that’s what I have the most control over.

If you don’t like hierarchy why suggest a system where business owners are at the bottom?

And I hear you. That’s not cool. I believe the government should have a system in place to help most definitely. People just be acting like they want to 100% get rid of capitalism and I don’t Think that’s the solution. I think a system of capitalism and a safety net type of system that keeps people from falling to poverty is required.
