There’s a lot of levels and nuance to what is “backwards”.

The reality is that the entire world functions off the back of suffering and atrocities in some way, either currently or in the recent past. It’s an insurmountable fact of life present throughout the entire history of humanity.

However, if we compare daily life in many countries (including the US) between even 100 years ago and now, we can point to real palpable progress. Child labor laws, voting rights, workplace safety regulations…the list goes on. Is a lot of s*** still f***ed up and backwards? Yes, of course, but things take time to change but we can SEE observable change.

I can sit here and say that based on the trajectory of these progressive changes, we’re likely to see even more positive progress over the next 100 years.

The same can’t be said about what some countries like Iran are doing right now. These actions SHOULD be globally condemned and not supported. They spit directly in the face of progress.

America as a "free" country has only existed for ~65 years. Republicans have spent 50 of those years trying to repeal roe v wade because it was a rallying point that racist evangelicals who were pro segregation could rally other racists around

And the liberals constantly crying about the past allowed the conservatives to get their wish. You liberals will call your own supporters racists and white supremacists and break off from your party. How else do you think conservatives have gotten such a strong foothold in this country? Liberal sensationalism and media coverage over police brutality hasn’t helped the issue one bit. It’s only made the frequency of violence and police - minority relations worse. We see more and more unarmed people shot to death in this country thanks to liberal sensationalism

That's a bipartisan issue with media and having 5 or 6 companies control 90%+ of all media. That's not on liberalism

its the liberals eating it up, so it is on them. The liberals have convinced themselves the media is their friend. But the reality is that Buzzfeed and CNN, while liberal, probably have opposing bases. That doesn't happen with conservatism. Conservatives consider the media and the gov't the enemy and that is why they win. Keep the powers on their toes and they will serve you better.

Liberals will listen to Bernie Sanders and Biden and then decide Biden is better because the mainstream media and big government told them he's better. That's how they approach electing their politicians.
