This what I've been preaching for years in this thread.
I remember when some folks in here wanted their pitcher to keep hitting.
I feel you, I’ve been that way since Pujols signed with the Angels. The issue with Cardinals wasn’t the money, it was the 10 years. It didn’t make sense for an NL team to sign someone who was going to be a liability defensively in his later years. If the DH was available Pujols never leaves.
I will say that in the later innings with the pitchers spot it did add more “strategy” for the purist. However, now since relievers having a max of 3 at bats that alone brings that strategy back with having the DH.
