I still think the Dodgers win this series because they have greater rotation depth, but Roberts has to know his time in LA is over if they don't. They've been one of the top 2-3 most talented teams in baseball for years with nothing to show for it.

Even as a Nats fan, I know we weren't more talented than LA last year, we just had more swag and played like a perfect mix of old mfs with their legacies on the line and some kids looking to have fun on the big stage.

But I do know even franchises that choke for the better part of a decade can turn it around if they punch their ticket often enough. It happened to us.

I remember the day after they lost the NLDS last year, Roberts was 100% the scapegoat. People were even letting Kershaw off the hook a bit because he never should have even been in the game to begin with.

The FO has burned $200 mil a year while hiding behind a few smart acquisitions (made with a massive scouting and R&D budget). The Dodgers brass is so in love with the idea of a dynasty and consistent competition that they won't trade a few mid-level prospects to get the first ring. The only big deadline deal they've made is Machado, and that was driven by the injury to Seager. They're so complacent about their spot on the top of the division that they don't understand that it isn't enough.

The 2017 playoffs really killed my enthusiasm for anything playoffs related honestly. To make it that far and come up short, and then learn the other team was cheating possibly the whole time. It hasn’t been the same since that year really. So I would say I’m sick of it, although it was fun to beat up on the Padres lol
