i thought he completely changed the album? Read somewhere yeezus was a lot more maximalist and had a lot more songs before he became involved, imma have to look that up again

You may be right, that’s just what I’ve noticed with rick at least lately. Then I wonder if that’s was because he encouraged Kanye to say f*** it let’s go harder or if he put his input and Kanye liked it you know?

Do you think he’s too prideful for that?
@One the same way people have 200 posts I just happen to hit the thread button

Nah. I mean if you look at his track record he's already shown that he's open to the idea, so i think if he goes all in with a partner for a solo album, it could be one of his best from the later part of his discography

due to this thread not being locked i have this to say: a much stronger case can be made for drake needing someone reigning him in. man's continued to make dookie music for a little while now.

there was no reason for me to come at drake but

Ye’s biggest attribute and biggest pitfall is his arrogance as an artist. I think he’s unique in the sense that no matter what he does, he thinks it’s quality. I think as an artist, if you have ultimate confidence in what you make, that’s a lot more impressive. It doesn’t work for everyone and while I do think he has had moments where he has failed in this respect, I’d say he had been far more successful doing it this way

another question to ponder: would this thread have been locked already if the name kanye was replaced with drake?

I don't think he doesn't have people in the room giving input and making adjustments like OP suggests. Rick Rubin, for example, was extremely involved in JIK

yea his lyrics has taken a huge nosedive lately and while he does show some signs of still having it (nmpila, saint pablo) he doesnt do it consistently throughout his recent albums. hes still amazing at producing as it was evident on daytona

just looked it up, according to rick the original rough cut was 3 and a half hours long, Kanye wanted it to be condensed to 16 tracks, rick got him to do 10 only and took lotta stuff out of the tracks

    more life ?

like its what its promises , a playlist of bangers of multiple sounds/ genres

also meek beef and push beef kind of both made drake change the album up...

I mean he had people reign him in on Late Registration and Yeezus and those are some of his best projects

same point as my last. so many trash ass songs on that tape. i used to like more life too but that whole dancehall wave he hopped on aged like milk
edit: his dancehall renditions at least not the genre as a whole
