You can have a maximalist sound with just a single instrument if you layer it enough

Guess it depends on the era

To me Channel Orange is maximalist given the amount instruments that are typically in the arrangement

Endless feels “ stripped back “

Blonde feels like a mix
You get things like Siegfried that sound so rich and big but then white Ferrari has a lot less going on outside of the vocal mixing
