“Although Juice never met the late Florida rapper in person, Juice shares that his last conversation with XXX happened during a FaceTime call where they talked about them finally meeting”.
X was the rapper death that hit me the hardest for sure. I remember the first time I heard Look At Me was at a bar and when it came on everybody was going crazy for it. I hadn’t heard anything quite like that, at least not out in public and getting this kind of response. The raw energy in that song was insane. Inspired my own music for a while. I figured he would be a one hit wonder scenario, but then I saw the following he had built.
I remember being surprised when I heard Revenge and 17, and realized he was more of an artist than I originally thought. He was able to do different styles seamlessly, and his singing style and melodies were a different style from anybody else in hip hop. I thought as he grew older and got more mature, his music would lose a lot of the angst that was kind of fake deep, and would become more meaningful.
On KTT1, when the s***assault allegations came out, I remember posting that if his career managed to survive the allegations, he would become one of the biggest stars on the planet. I didn’t think the allegations would impact his career as negatively as they probably should have due to the intense following he had built. It’s rare to see an artist develop that kind of fan base so quickly.
I think he will be looked back on as the definitive face of emo rap, even more so than Peep and Juice. No disrespect to them either. I think that they wore their inspirations a little bit more on the sleeve, where with X it felt familiar but new all at the same time. There was something different about the energy and versatility he had.
RIP to X. It’s hard to detach the man from the music given the things he had done. I always had hope that as he got older he would’ve had a chance to redeem himself from his past and develop into a better person. Now we’ll never get to know.
Damn I forgot this guy brutally beat up his gf. Now I gotta debate on deleting him from the playlist when I just added him

I kinda separate X and Juice when it comes to their eras tbh. For many people Juice filled a hole X left, although not so much for me.

RIP a young legend
Damn I still remember this happening
I was walking back to my car coming out of my summer class and just stopped for a whole ass five minutes when I found out.
I was never the biggest X fan, I liked a few songs, wasn’t a fan of him as a person, but something about his murder struck me.
His music was pretty bad, and he did some absolutely heinous s***, but he should've lived long enough to redeem himself.
this is the most backhanded way of saying he should have stayed alive
I lost sleep over this s*** man
Made me reevaluate how precious life is
some of you basically saying “yeah the guy was a deplorable person who brought misery and havoc to others’ lives whilst churning out CIA audio torture however i still feel he should have still been given a chance to live he was too young” is just a bit too much. you can just simply say he died too young and that’s it
x has some really solid stuff and some… not so solid stuff. However, the good music overshadows the bad music for me. RIP
Sad how so many artists from his generation went out. Whole era of kids watching their heroes die way too soon
