On a serious note, XXXTentacion in a lot of ways was that superficial "voice of the youth" for this newer generation in the same way that Cudi was for my generation. Only difference is that it was way more cringe/edgy. And his fanbase is way more f***ing trash.

Yep. They both have a lot of the same messaging but Cudi was so much less pretentious and had absolutely none of the darkness and violence X did in both his music and his real life.

For all his flaws, Cudi is an extremely likable dude, to the point where Drake can diss him publicly and it not really take off. Cudi can put out one of the most dunked-on albums of the century and do 175k 5 years later. People really want him to succeed.

XXX had a lot of toxicity surrounding him so he never really had that culture-wide love he could have had. It's sad that he never got the chance to grow up and become a leader instead of a divisive icon in his era.

Nah Cudi got pretty dark and irl he was pretty violent. Remember there being stories of how he abused his girl a few times and that she got a restraining order against him. But it seems like they worked out that stuff quickly for the sake of their daughter. Whereas X just sent his fans after his ex for rightfully wanting to take him to court.

Definitely on point with the pretentious bit though. I'll chalk it up to him still being young and feeling way too self-important, but the way he'd basically make it a part of his music as if it was anything truly deep or profound was just insufferable.

Hell no, I haven’t read them myself but the vibe I get from that is the same vibe I get from X. That’s sociopath s*** imo

I could be a little off because like I said, I haven’t read myself. But I get the feeling that at least a lot of the people talking about it and tryna use it are sociopaths. I’m not with the whole manipulative interactions s***. Hate it when I can tell someone is tryna be all calculated with what they’re saying to me, I only know real s***

I don’t think the AI from 2002 controlling him knows how to do that.

Now that I think about it, has @This_My_Username ever posted in a thread that's not his.

It's cause his internet browser is too outdated.

Can't expect much from Netscape 5.0 2002 edition

I didnt know about any of that with his girl damn. Dark probably isnt the right word, moreso violent or malicious. Cudi could be dark but it never felt like the victim was anyone but himself ultimately. X was definitely not that.

I chalk it up to being young too, but I also dont think he ever really would’ve come out of it since it gave him so much success.

At the same time the Internet was way less meme driven in Cudders era. The internet ate X alive wit the memes and I feel like that highlighted what made X cringe
