How many on this site are old enough to remember Pac and Biggie being alive?
under 5% if we're keeping it a buck.
Mac and Peep were arguarbly bigger than X (with all due respect) we grossly overestimate the popularity of someone just by their internet numbers.
mac and mf LIL PEEP were bigger than X? bruh😎
Don't understand why people that weren't of this specific generation try to argue against this
edit: i don't agree with the tupac comparison just the title wtf
this website is full of people who can’t let go of the first half of the 2010s and still think they’re tapped in yet simultaneously whine about the state of rap 24/7
Less
That would mean they would have to be born before the ‘90s
i was born in '94 and i feel like an old head on here the first rapper i was exposed to was em or will smith if he counts lmao
He wasn’t molding anybody to be better, if anything he was teaching them about manipulation tactics and how to use mental health as a weapon and excuse for anything you do. His music still had all the dumb s*** kids like mixed in. Dude was a sociopath and narcissist

Get Jiggy wit it
I think If I was one of these miserable dust heads in their mid
-late 20s on here I wouldn’t understand
But i was in hs (in broward county no less) and his influence was HUGE. Him getting out of jail was crazy bro everyone was so hyped :pog: you really had to be there to feel his impact on the youth.
Doesn’t mean he’s Tupac tho. This generations equivalent to Pac would be like if Kendrick died after DAMN. and also had multiple popular movies under his belt too

17. A collection of nightmares, thoughts, and real-life situations I've lived. 17 is the number tattooed on the right side of my head, my own personal number, soon to be explained in future interviews or instances. By listening to this album, you are literally, and I cannot stress this enough, literally entering my mind. And if you are not willing to accept my emotion and hear my words fully, do not listen. I do not value your money; I value your acceptance and loyalty. Here is my pain and thoughts put into words. I put my all into this in the hopes that it will help cure, or at least numb your depression. I love you. Thank you for listening. Enjoy.
Get Jiggy wit it

Why do people not of the 90s generation try to compare him to Tupac if they weren't around to experience him?.
It goes both ways
Doesn’t mean he’s Tupac tho. This generations equivalent to Pac would be like if Kendrick died after DAMN. and also had multiple popular movies under his belt too
plus if Kendrick was really outspoken outside of music
you really sat down, proof read that s***, and hit post? damn
I agree cause Hip-Hop has changed
Rap has changed. No longer it is this energetic yet thoughtful and meditative algamation of a whole rich culture. Hip-hop has always dealt in extremes. Whether reality or fantasy, a celebration or mourning, there was room in hip-hop for the endless spectrum of the human condition. They managed to tackle important socio-economical issues in a stylish manner, meant to go hard in the clubs and in the skreets.
The great Rappers were dearing and bold and not fearing to challenge the status-quo. In one word, they were authentically rebelious.
Commentators and religious leaders erronously accused the genre of being limited to promoting criminal behaviour, perpetuating fear-mongering.
But the sad thing is, as much as those critiques were surface level attempts at dismissing the genre, I can't deny that their commentary was prophetic...
This new wave of mumble rap, the Lil Uzi Verts, the Playboi Cartis, the Little Pimps they are the worst thing to happen to music. They show not a hint of depth to their artistry. It is not far fetched to say they lack any talent. In many ways, it is a projection of the reality of late-stage capitalism that we live in. The best way to describe it is manufactured automated music : each track is made in a very short time and with no passion. This is evident by the abundance of "leaks" these rappers nowadays have. They promote a morally decadent vision of a d***ged up, violent hyper-consumerist and hyper-sexualized society... All in the service of western corporate neo-liberalism.
You may laugh at me KTT all you want, ridicule me all you want and avi-post me all you want. But deep down you all know it is nothing but an attempt to run away from this intellectual discourse. Perhaps it is unconfortable for you to admit that the thing you're most passionate about is merely a shell of itself and a driving force to the worst in our society. I dont blame you in fact for feeling like this. But remember what the geat Gilles Deleuze once said: " It's not easy to see things from the middle, rather than looking from above or up at them, from below, or from left to right or right to left: try it, you'll see that everything changes."
Rap has truly changed.
