I know A&T is a "party school" but is it really parties going on like that, or they just saying that cuz it's a hbcu?
I’ll tell you like this, every college is a party college if you look for it
With that said, there’s slight bias towards A&T but the reputation for partying kinda lives up to it. It’s a lil bit lower than ECU as a party school. Aggiefest this year was wild as hell
Now with that said, if you don’t want to be around partying, you won’t be. If you do, you will. There’s a scene for everybody here. Big diverse school
Man don’t go to Hampton dawg, Hampton is overpriced and the quality is lower than A&T
A&T is the best hbcu by far. One of the best engineering programs in the nation, extremely competent, +long history of black excellence
HU never sent me my fin aid. A lot of other students don't have it either - some don't even know if they got in yet. They extended their deadline to June 1 but everyone else said May 1. So I had to commit to T since you can't just sign up to a school that expensive without knowing how much it's gonna cost. But I really feel for other students who are in my position, but haven't committed anywhere yet. What if HU doesn't give them enough, they try to commit somewhere else, but it's too late and they lost their spot? Then what? That move was kind of inconsiderate but, oh well.

Thats what I mean, Hampton is straight up incompetent in all aspects
They mess around with financial aid, professors aren’t as good..campus isn’t as nice or up to squeeze, school spirit sucks..A&T is straight up one of the best colleges in the state. A lot of people rule it cause it’s an hbcu but it has some of the best programs.
Plus the magic of being on the campus is real man, black excellency everywhere.
I committed to NC A&T State University! The largest HBCU in the country!
I could end up at Hampton University though. I'll know officially by the end of this month.
It's cool cuz my dad's alma mater is A&T and my mom graduated from Hampton. I'm so excited!

Yeah, they’re historically black colleges which means before the Civil Rights act of 1964 they were exclusively Black colleges, now most of them are black still.

Before the Civil Rights act of 1964 blacks could only go to these schools but even now most of them are 80%+ black. A&T is actually fairly diverse being "only" 85% black. I know Hampton is 93% black. Howard is a good one too and they're 89% black. These schools aren't only for black students, but obviously those are the main ones they attract. (Tbh white kids probably get good scholarships for diversity.) Most of them were founded right after or on the tail end of the Civil War and some in the early 20th century. 1964 is the cutoff year.
I think there are 107 right now. Most of them are from Texas through Maryland. A lot of HBCUs are declining or even closing because kids have more options now. Schools like Tuskegee, Hampton, Howard, Dillard, Morehouse, used to attract the top black students like a Harvard or Stanford but black schools don't get funding like white schools do (even the public ones) so they don't have as much scholarship and grant money to give to students. So those students go to PWIs that are easier financially. Hopefully we can find a way to keep them going because I'd be devastated if my kids didn't have nearly as many HBCUs to choose from 20-30 years from now.
