My only major criticism of today’s scene is a song blowing off cos of a snippet thats used in a tiktok trend. Not in a gatekeeping way or anything
It just makes us even more adhd as fickle listeners, and labels are using this way of consumption to commodify an artists album/songmaking process
not every rapper needa rap about therapy man
Why don’t y’all say this about d**** and guns and violence 😂?
Why y’all be forcing the only rappers that rap about that stuff to make funner music?
these rappers not tough theyre just anxious
underrated post just wanted you to know I was c r y i n g seeing this
If KTT2 ain't listening to Blu Afrika and Propain Made from Scratch I don't wanna hear it
this crowd look od bored lmao
16:50 the only time the crowd looked like it had actual life to it.
And maybe part of that is because (I'm assuming) it's probably cold as s*** but bruh this crowd for most of this clip had they phone out (which is nothing wrong with that, I had my phone out at parts during paris texas show....but I also got a bruise from moshing so goddamn much too) and not even moving lol
MEANWHILE
I will say there's genuinely some younger/newer talent that need a better spotlight on them. Like a lot lol, and I don't mean "new gen" rage stuff or pain trap lol. Like people who can spit and energize the listener and bring something even incrementally new to the table
Flo Milli for example. She's not reinventing the wheel at all, but if Nicki can do 250k+ first week still this woman should be going Gold in her sleep lol. She's younger, great at rapping, and way better at making albums versus Nicki at this moment. Same with Tia Corine. And both of them are also unique and refined enough to pay attention to and to distinguish themselves from the existing market of rappers in their lanes.
But yeah this is spot on
Flo Milli and Tia Corine are 100% examples of this era just being WOAT at breaking new artists in.
these playlists just aren't doing it.
Y’all are out of touch tbh. Y’all just want the blog era back
the blog era is literally the reason the current 'big 3' (that are still looked at through all ages as the niggas to run a genre that should've been overran by the young niggas yall heralded so much) exist lmao what?
Out of touch is just a somewhat hostile framing of the music not connecting which is not a criticism as much as a reality , most of these post wlr niggas give me a headache but I’m not overly dismissive I have specific criticisms & I like to think I’m open minded in giving them a shot, a lot of the s*** is mind numbing to me but I am washed to a degree

Y’all gotta let the big 3 go bruh
Y’all gotta let the big 3 go bruh
big 3 still moving more units than the whole new gen together it's pretty sad
imo the best 2000s rock band was deerhunter, so I’d check them out
For something more specific you could just look up the bands that influenced your favorite bands, which is always a good way to find new music
I used to listen to deerhunter a lot
confuses me when yall call traditional rap generic even tho not a single mainstream rapper rn actually strictly makes traditional rap lol
however, there’s like 100 active opium clones that have zero versatility in their music. every ny drill rapper sounds exactly the same. a lot of these detroit niggas sound exactly the same
and while i do enjoy all of that s***, THAT is the s*** that’s generic at this point imo lol

Preach brother
Streaming ruined music for me personally. Its just too much music at one time. Back then i only purchased albums on iTunes where the singles were fuego.
There are still good rappers out there whether you like lyricism or new wave s***. But you have to search for them.
Music is so devalued nowadays it’s everywhere and people use it as background for literally everything
Preach brother
the hypocrisy is crazy lol
and like i said, i love all the rap i mentioned
but a lot of the rappers in those lanes be WAY more one dimensional and generic than the rappers ppl try to s*** on on here like at least be consistent w the hate lmao
