dark mode users are like vegans the way they just have to let everyone know they use dark mode
you won’t ever see a light mode user call out a dark mode user because we do not give af about how other ppl use their phones
Speaking straight facts
Rocks mainstream appeal died as a result of elitism in the genre y’all gonna do the same to rap
I used to think this but nah not really
Grunge was the last good era of rock then hip hop starting taking off and they decided to try and jump on that wave with all the nu metal bands and it didn’t go anywhere
Then by the time that era was over it was too late because hip hop already dethroned it
Sure I guess you could say old rock fans didn’t like nu metal but looking back they were f***ing right lol
It was more so the labels that started thinking nu metal was the next thing so that’s all they started backing
I feel you but it be deeper than that for a select few, perspective of a casual fan and a professional who does music as a career be way different. If you in this s*** for a living you gotta keep up and you gotta put effort into evolving your ear and understanding what’s going on out there. You don’t have the luxury to say “I like what I like and I don’t care that I’m old and washed”
I see this phrase constantly used as some type of jab or low-efforted comeback whenever users don't reply positively to a post about a middle schooler's rap career pushing lean or a drill rapper just copying the plot from SAW blowing his throat out yelling in the mic.
And I just want yall to understand as a 29 year old that I speak for us when we say
!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ram7AKbtkGE"you're growing out of touch"
Cool! There's nothing to be in touch with. Judging by the charts and the lack of #1s the rest of the world is also finding nothing to touch within this rap s*** lol.
Man all the new niggas are full of anxiety and percs why tf would I wanna be in touch with that? Parties dont even be the same now "scaring the hoes" has become a real thing NOBODY talks to each other
I also find it funny it's only a...certain type of young rappers yall bring up when it comes to "pushing new artists" because, it was crickets when niggas was bringing up niggas like cisco swank and ghais guevara on here.
Just saying when yall (and it be mainly niggas that are...literally in they mid 20s or even late 20s saying this so yall really projecting) say this, it's not the ace in the hole that y'all think it is 'nahmean?
a nigga swear they dont care but go off in threads about the topic they oh so dont care about. the music you coping over may not be for you its as simple as that. you are "growing out of touch" by making a pointless post like this. work on that instead of rambling about how much you dont care.

Respectfully disagree with most of these takes

What do you think?
This is just kind of what I’ve gathered so I’m interested to hear other takes on it

I disagree with the take on grunge being the last good era of rock. I disagree with Nu metal not being good. Plenty of good numetal bands SoD, Korn, Slipknot, Deftones, s*** I listen to Static X. Grunge is honestly more cringe than Numetal for me outside of Alice In Chains.

I meant why exactly do you think elitism killed rock?
Crazy how Duke Deuce has a unique sound yet people aren't really in tune with him at all for some reason. He should at least be a lot more known. Is his sound too regional?
idk why he doesn’t get more love. his sound is def regional but he does 90s memphis s*** and asap mob, suicide boys, denzel curry etc all have that same sound and are way bigger so idk what it is lol

“coping over” bra yall been pushing trap poptimist bullshit for a little over two decades, these Thug and Carti clones are not all time talent tier
y’all had your run, it’s time to change the musical landscape, the trap s*** and everything adjacent has long overstayed its welcome

I liked his first tape, but he's kind of a one trick pony and immediately tried to do that "actually I'm a rockstar" thing
