Dude took a bunch of random background dancers and wrote all their songs. Apparently only one of the members knew how to sing, their first and only album sold 4k and then that was kind of it for them.

I tried to listen to their project to see if there was any hidden gems, but a lot of it is very dated and chalk full of that late 2000s cringe. Again, whole album was written by Dream and produced by Tricky Stewart in 2009, so I was really hoping for like females versions of songs like "Fast Car"

But it ended up just being a bunch of bad Rihanna throwaways. This song however has been stuck in my head all week:

I need somebody to flip this, it would be so hard.

Oh I don't doubt that for a second.

I remember when T-Pain started a girl group around the same time. Even gave them a Ye feature.

I remember T-Pain admitting that him and his wife kept having threesomes with one of the girls in the group and that's probably why they didn't last either.

Funny enough, listening to the new PinkPantheress record is what made me think about this song for whatever reason.

Now I'm going through a very interesting rabbit hole.

You know a lot of people like to credit Drake and The Dream for shifting R&B, making less about actual vocal talent and have focus more on songwriting. But if you pay attention to the trend of groups that came and went during the mid and late 2000s, you start to notice that this has kind off been the course for a while now.

This group and many others are kind of indictive of that.

Look at 3LW, Adrienne Bailon and Naturi Naughton can REALLY sing, but they tried to make the one girl who couldn't the face of the group.

Pretty Ricky was a R&B group with only ONE singer in it, with the rest of the members being self-contained feature verses.

    B2K... Omarion can't sing.

    It's actually very fascinating.

This could be its own thread tbh.

The Travis Porter naming formula for a girl group should have worked

The so good single was so good

The Dream and Tricky sound was hit or miss though

Goes to show how fast s*** can change

07-2009 they could have and should have had a decent run as a vanity label

But by the time The Weeknd and Frank come thru it kinda makes that sound outdated

But I guess he wasn’t in a rush to sign a bunch of male r&b acts that would replace him and niggas will only listen to so much of that type r&b from a woman. Couldn’t see him signing a rapper

Damn that’s f***ing cool OP. P Diddy tried to do it as well with an all girl pop group called DREAM, and their one (and only) debut album dropped in 2000, it was supposed to rival Backstreet Boys/NSYNC.

i can tell that the Dream wrote this just based on the vocal melodies, this is literally his bag

    I don't think its a bad song
but yeah, a bit generic for 09
