im just saying i listen to this on one output and it sounds fine, but i put it on at a party on my friend's monitors and the vocals sound ashy and f***ed up
so maybe my problem is mastering idk cuz making sure s*** sounds good on ALL speakers seems like a herculean task that I do not want to be responsible for. It's like my least favorite part of making music because it makes me dread hearing it anywhere. I put it on somewhere I'm not vibing, i'm stressing over the mix and how it sounds
at least mastering seems like the cheap part of all this. If I can get mixing down, I'd much rather just pay someone to make it sound good everywhere.

The beats sounds fine, and the vocal like a couple steps away from being hard, I think you just being too hard on yourself

Your song is not bad at all. But part of my problem is I don’t really know what good mixing is. The high frequencies are really coming through and your voice is great. But it sounds like it needs a stereo widener or something, there’s a lot of compression. Maybe the bass could be stronger. 🤔 I dunno. Like you said, definitely better than other tracks I’ve heard.

Yeah that’s my problem with it. The high frequencies coming through on the voice are ruining it for me. Like if it was a bit louder and the vocals weren’t so ashy I’d be cool with it
One thing Spotify pisses me off with is they won’t let you replace a mix like you can do on SoundCloud. Unless I’m mistaken, You gotta delete the whole track and send it again smh.
