I much prefer the days of the solely behind the scenes leaking community. the popularity, in lack of a better word, of leak culture and “leaks” in general has brought the inevitable over-monetization of leaking music. i mean correct me if i’m wrong but before music mafia, no one was group buying songs / the majority did not have access the the leak community. like i said correct me if i’m wrong but idk. it would happen randomly or accidentally
not to mention the stupid standards it sets for artists and the disrespect it is to them personally as an artist. if they didn’t want to release it they didn’t release it. for all we know, and ik this will never happen but maybe! he releases an album or two full of b-sides of all these songs that have leaked and many more. there may be mumble on there there may not be who knows that’s besides the point

there were groupbuys, but usually small private groups instead of the big public ones. these groups would also just trust eachother not to leak the song (rarely worked) instead of just leaking it once it’s sold. like the other guy said, it was more like a pack of songs for about $300. once this concept hit the public though there was an infinite amount of people to contribute so the prices could just keep going up and still sell. it destroyed the market
