Nah he’s chasing 808s I think , it’s the only album he’s revisited post-release and he disowns MBDTF pretty often
JIK & KSG felt like their own entities to me though, regardless of whether the quality was there or not
I actually think his constant disowning of MBDTF is further proof of my point. He does that because it weighs on him. JIK was the closest he’s gotten to 808s and I would rather him chase that, but Yeezus, TLOP and ye all sounded like MBDTF fan fiction

Yeezus is the antithesis of MBDTF to me but Pablo and Ye I def agree . Strong semblances of Fantasy in those albums

Musically I see where you’re coming from about Yeezus though I wouldn’t go as far as antithesis. In retrospect, while it was marketed as minimalist it’s a maximalist album, almost as maximalist as MBDTF. But it’s really the rapping that worshipped MBDTF. Whether it was a personal thing or artistic idea, Kanye got stuck in MBDTF fame s***rap mode from 2010 until JIK

Tlop is just yeezus done in a more “ appealing “ manor

Ehhh, both are just MBDTF done in a “less appealing“ manner. Same applies for ye of course

Look at the song structure and the way they do album concepts - conplelty diff to mbdtf
Mbdtf is much more similar to his previous albums in most regards
I honestly don't know how Kanye came up with MBDTF. It was just so perfect, nothing would ever point that he could do an album like that. Kanye now just doesn't look and sound like that person that could go to the studio and be the best musician in the whole f***ing world like he was through 2008-2013.
I only wish I was around for that era man

I think the split of the different types of Kanye albums can be put down to:
TCD/LR/Grad/Twisted Fantasy/Pablo
&
808s/Yeezus/ye/JIK

Don't think so yesac
CD/LR/Grad/808s/MBDTF all operate under a similar structure
Pablo/Ye/JIK operate under a new structure, one that is much quicker and abrasive.
Yeezus sorta stands on its own, an amalgamation of the two.

I think its pretty obvious
first option has lots of big, concept songs
second option albums are ultimately concept albums and super cohesive and concept driven

yes. that's why Yeezus is the best to me. experimental while very thought out

We're talking about different things tho really
what I was saying can still stand with what you said
Pablo is a hard one to pick cause if it was just the original tracklist it would be a different story

Def but i would put tlop in the second category 100%
But it seems a lot of people see it in a diff light to me itt

Yes
Tlop was a refinement of the yeezus structure (not saying its better) and each album since was further refinement (mayb too much)

It depends if you consider the "bonus tracks" to be part of the album or not, without them its a super cohesive album definitely in that latter group, with them its in the first group

They are bonus tracks 100% but also part of the album 100%
How hype was that thread on sxn 80 describing tlop when they had an early copy of the album like a week before it dropped
They are bonus tracks 100% but also part of the album 100%
It has too many outliers in 30 Hours, NMPILA, Facts and Fade to be completely cohesive

Ulb - franks track is the proper narrative
Bonuses to seem to have a theme also
30 hours looks back to the past
Nmpila brings us to the present
Facts also, both tracks show a triumph but also have an air if dissatisfaction also
Fade - memories of the past dissipating
Saint pablo- looking forward to the future
These seem relevant to the projects that come after so its hard not to view them as important

its loosely related yeah but you can apply that loose connection to most of his songs cause its from his perspective lol

Yeah i only think its significant because the rest of the album kinda lives in an “album world” whereas these ones move back to reality

TLOP most cohesive album I’ve ever heard next to KSG. I don’t think a second is wasted. Reminded that waves to wolves is Kanye’s greatest sequence of all time.
