    That has been the biggest most consistent complaint people have made since the album dropped

    Ok my bad then, and good to see that people actually do notice it. Iā€™ve basically listened to him every day for 20 years, and the difference is quite big. I hope he gets his energy back over time.

    His voice lacks color and emotion, which is a big part of his whole essence and message. His voice is extremely monotone for him. Iā€™ve been a big fan for 20 years. I hoped it was just an issue with one song, but it seems to be consistent throughout. I noticed it right from the beginning. I havenā€™t listened to the whole album yet, but for me itā€™s more sad than sonically problematic.
    Itā€™s also sad to see that almost no one points this out, which shows how tuned out most people actually are here.

    The mixing drowns out his voice even more

    I think he brings the same energy as Travis on Father but his voice feels lower mixed

    FATHER, WHATEVER WORKS, too have more colour and a more confident projected delivery

    like I've said before I like the solemn delivery on the other songs too, but if you say the album lacks colour and emotion I think you just finished the album and recency bias means you forgot the first half

    that said, I do think the mixing could be improved on some tracks by just raising the vocals a bit, Preacher Man is one

    This and also some of his verses towards the middle and the end get samey

    Thatā€™s why itā€™s not on the level of his prime classics, still hell of a statement
