Show me the songs on this album that are better than:
Jesus Lord
Hurricane
Off The Grid
No Child Left Behind
Lord I Need You
Come To Life
(+ multiple other good songs)
Idk I think Donda is very maximalist to a fault and a lot of this album is minimalist which I typically gravitate to honestly. It’s hard to compare them. I don’t mind the shorter songs here at all. I think he gets his point across and lets the production feature on this album more than just adding on a person to fill up a song where I felt he did on Donda.
Where I can say it’s clearly better is the rapping overall compared to Donda.
Maybe I’m delusional but I think King, Father, All the Love, Punch Drunk, Whatever Works, Mama’s Favorite, White Lines, Damn, and Beauty and the Beast are all very strong songs.
If Donda was still alive, do y’all think we would’ve ever gotten an album like 808s/MBDTF/Yeezus? Just curious

No, maybe Yeezus
No, maybe Yeezus
What do you think we would’ve gotten? More bear trilogy type albums?

808s maybe because that had more to do with losing his fiancée

Maybe Good Ass Job? I think I remember reading about being the original plan

The reason I like Mama’s Favorite is because it kinda is structured as a stamp of approval on his ego from his freaking mom which is interesting to me in terms of the highs and lows of Kanye.

Yeah, continue to lean toward Pop songs
So praising hitler and killing of millions of jews was ok compared to some childhood trauma?
(If its even the truth)
He said crazy s*** about black people
If I can look past that why would I give af about some s*** he said that happened in Europe that has f*** all to do with me

You real
I could look past all the other stuff but Cousins was where I drew the line
Speaking of that, do y'all think that story was true? Or just a result of the mental state he was in last year?

Chain Heavy and Us Placers were intended for GAJ iirc
Maybe Good Ass Job? I think I remember reading about being the original plan
Yeah I think you’re right, especially when he says in Storytellers
“If I hadn’t suffered those losses, I would’ve been too scared to fight the war on traditional thinking”
And that phrase reflects in all 3 of those albums 808/MBDTF/Yeezus
Still interesting to think about

This wild I brought this exact same thing up to my wife 2 day ago
