The most hilarious review was Pitchfork man how can they really say that CUCK would've been a better release than BULLY

I think pitchfork should only be used to scroll through to find albums you wouldn't already hear about anyway

And even then there are better sites for that

Idk how pitchforks main thing in people's mind is their reviews of mainstream albums it was never even their thing imo

The problem with modern reviews is the same problem they always had. They can't tell the difference between opinion and a***ysis

"In cuck (lol) he was being more open, more himself"

No he wasn't. Just because you address trauma directly doesnt make the songs from bully less honest or poignant. They come from different mind states. Is damn dishonest?

Songs don't need to have 3 verses and/or beat switches necessarily

The "comes and goes" critique is a very conservative approach to music.

"A song has this structure, if it doesn't have it, it's lacking."

No: it doesn't have to. A song doesn't have to abide to any particular length or structure. That's your personal preference.

A song like Bully doesn't need more verses. This a must is a perfectly valid short song in itself. Why would it be better with more verses? It says what it wants to say, like Follow God

That's why, yes, a song like circles is undercooked, because it does nothing, says nothing. Not because of length itself. But it's the only case in the album imo

there are valid critiques in Bully, but they focus on personal preference

Most reviews read like high school essays.

Its an easy cop out for a reviewer to say the songs are undercooked because most songs are short instead of actually engaging with the album and look if there is intention behind it. Most of them want to give it a bad review anyway, so they'll just look for the easiest angle to take which is the song length and content.

But why aren't most Vultures or Donda songs short? Could it be that there is actually a consistent approach in how Kanye wants to tackle the songs on Bully? None of the reviewers want to actually go that far.
