I haven't seen any theories really, but if I had to speculate, I'd say they probably just weren't finished, while all the tracks that they played more or less were.

I honestly believe they probably did intend to rerecord everything, especially This One Here, but just needed to get the album out. Not sure if they'll touch it now, given how successful it is.

I'm split 50/50 on whether they're going to continue to update the album or not. The current cope is that they didn't want to update the album at any point this week as to not risk messing up streaming numbers, but it seems like they changed out Circles pretty easy, so that might not be the case.
