a dude just told me he gets mad when people put kanye in MJ conversations, and I told him that's not too crazy a take, then he was like "dude stop, he's a nazi"

    Like nigga

Not only did MJ say basically the same thing about Hitler as Kanye did, but he also was slinging slurs on they don't care about us. He had whole costumes inspired by SS uniforms. Now, I'm not endorsing that s***, but you can't be a Michael Jackson fan and have that take. You just can't.

Tbh, MJ from 93-06 was more infamous than Kanye ever was.

Dude was literally being demonized as a freaky looking child molester while having numerous court cases and allegations involving Epstein/Kellz/Diddy type s*** but with young boys instead of girls(though a few girls made allegations too).

The press was constantly trashing MJ("Wacko Jacko") and pop culture references to MJ were mostly negative like on South Park. Every interview MJ ever did in that time involved the allegations, his skin tone/appearance, his fight with Sony, his sexual orientation, his children, etc.

The allegations and lawsuits involving the pedo stuff was so horrific that it actually overshadowed the accusations of antisemitism which you're referring too. But MJ did clarify that his beef was with specific Jews and not the whole group.

Death was honestly the best thing to ever happen to MJ's reputation post Dangerous. I still have memories of even Black media portraying MJ like a circus clown.

It was a rough time for sure, and heaven forbid you ever said you were an MJ fan during that time on the schoolyard - you'd be burned witch-hunt style by the rest of the grade, basically.

Yup. The musical legacy was still respected but he was seen as a joke and a menace to society at the same time.

Hell, even Ye and Eminem took shots at MJ on Slow Jamz and Just Lose It back in 04 lol.

Yeah he was really the easiest target on the planet for satire in the early-mid 2000s sadly

Oh for sure. It just shows a complete lack of awareness to stan Michael Jackson and condemn Kanye when MJ said Hitler was the ultimate showman and that he could be “rehabilitated”.

  • In a different timeline MJ would’ve been on MBDTF
