Bit of a bait title but fr..what happened to Kanye after Yeezus?
The man could rap with the best of em. I don’t mean in terms of writing; we know he’s always had help in that department.
I’m talking about delivery. He was rapping confidently and effortlessly from CD to Yeezus.
Then TLOP comes and..don’t get me wrong I still love the album, but doesn’t it feel like he’s struggling to spit the bars a little bit? Listen to the first verse of Black Skinhead and then listen to NMPILA..
It’s like his mouth can’t keep up with his brain.. And it’s like that pretty much consistently from TLOP to present day. Again I don’t hate any Ye album, but to me it’s almost like I’m listening to two different artists just in terms of enunciation, flow, and delivery between those two eras.
The only other artist I know who you can draw such a clear cut line in their voice and delivery from one part of their career to the other is Eminem, and we know that’s due to f***ing up his brain from d****.
Did Kanye f*** up his brain on d****? A result of his increasing mental health issues? Other health issues that were never disclosed like a stroke or some type of brain trauma? Did his marriage to Kim kill his confidence? Did he die and was cloned?!
He found success in other industries and stopped giving a f*** about his music
He found success in other industries and stopped giving a f*** about his music
Now he's ruined his chances of success in other industries AND his music still sucks
Or is the answer obvious and I’m forgetting something important here?
I mean it’s definitely the most significant part of his mental health decline, but Donda passed long before the change in delivery.
He did get married and start having children between Yeezus and TLOP.. I wonder if the stress of maintaining those relationships drove him deeper into d*** use, deeper into instability, as well as maybe f***ed with his confidence and narcissism (harder to be so overly indulged in yourself when you have children you’re responsible for raising).
Not really go listen to follow god nigga still got it. He just got nothing to prove anymore
Remember when he went off on Sway after he put Big Sean ahead of him on his rapper of the year list, the same year he did Rihanna’s Diamonds remix
I think it’s a mix of music no longer being a priority and not having the same level of writing talent.
On top of everything else people have mentioned, he also turned his back on the people that were there since the early days or vice-versa because of the shenanigans. Surrounds himself with yes men and fake people. That 3rd act of jeen-yuhs sheds light on that a bit.
the "not caring about music anymore" thing has always been a weak argument/excuse.
the first two examples u gave are probably the primary reasons, and the latter of the two is the main main reason.
y'all don't realize Pasternak was his trainer since before TLOP and he probably been microdosed on synthetic d**** or something
also realize the family he been in was crazy af, do you think those coke bars and bleached a******s are pure fiction? man's been rapping about what happened behind the curtains of his family since years
He's always working on music btw, even now that he's out of a deal, it's def not an obligation lol. I believe someone like Rihanna feels like someone who doesn't care as much about music anymore. As he said in 2021 in the German interview, he believes god sent him to make music so he doesn't sees it as a secondary job.
Not really go listen to follow god nigga still got it. He just got nothing to prove anymore
Follow god is nonsense
Even on yeezus at certain times he struggled he still had the charisma but on I’m in it that verse he’s literally unraveling
