I remember her admitting she did that and then saying in a interview she was awful for it and that it was one of the most painful regrets in her life.
In my opinion, she was just using Pete to hurt Mac. I think until he passed, she had always thought they would get back together at some point. She really loved him and that’s why she lashed out the way she did when they broke up.
