the more i think about this the more i realize Nico was never the right person for this job
When Ye asks him his opinion at the end and he says something like "looks like the plan is in motion, people will see"
the more i think about this the more i realize Nico was never the right person for this job
For this job he was perfect lol…19yr old kid willing to drop everything to film Kanye’s life for 18 hrs a day
You wanted someone to be behind the camera that would confront Kanye or what?
I wish Nico was able to use the actual music they were making/performing
That would’ve taken this to another level
Made me sad to see ye lisping in vultures era saying he sometimes wonders if he made a mistake in ending the GAP and Adidas deals
Lmao dumbass was realizing he had it all and the leverage to just peacefully go to another company

Jeenyuhs was a better doc if we're basing it off of that lol.

I feel like it’s almost poetic how they represent Old Kanye vs New Kanye.
Jeen-Yuhs is pure deep storytelling filled with heartfelt inspiration and emotion.
In Whose Name is dark, chaotic, and without a clear vision.
And to add to the cherry on top, Ye hates Jeen-Yuhs and loves In Whose Name.

Bro really is a contrarian just for the sake of it.

It just seems like he lost the forrest from the trees a bit. Nico strikes me as an artist that would focus on the wrong things by trying to piece together a throughline that isn't even coherent. That would explain why so much of the footage feels like B Sides. Like, why is a footnote like the New Body music video one of the most pivotal parts of the doc? I don't think this really did a good job of balancing out Ye's humanity with his ego. He's a more interesting character than the one presented in the doc.

jeenyuhs was good until the third act where he barely had any footage to show and started rambling using his morgan freeman impression
crazy ye was "back" again in the mainstream during that time

Didn’t even finish that one lol but the first 2 were amazing
Guy has always been lame and pretentious but
Come on
Mad people don’t think he’s the next Kubrick because he walked around with a IPhone for 5 years
those scenes of him screaming at Kim, screaming at Kris, screaming at his cousin
Imagine how bad it was behind the scenes. And Kim NEVER aired him out on his bs publicly. Damn, I never knew it was this bad. What a loser
I think it's pretty clear that people who still want this version of Kanye to release music & clothes for them to consume do not actually care about him, that's why the remaining tapped in fanbase is mostly just weirdos
The only thing anyone should want is for him to somehow get his mental health together
Not for him to release Bully or whatever project with whatever second rate crew he can find who will work with him because they're desperate for success at whatever cost
How do you go from working Jon Brion, Mike Dean, etc to XXXT's engineer or whatever?
S/o to Kim tbf, they probably both got NDAs but still, nobody should have to deal with that kind of emotional abuse
It's pretty good would like more of the footage tbh feels like the tip of the iceberg and stuff I kinda already assumed
watching the donda era clips makes me realise that the fact we got an album of that calibre that late in ye's career all while he was very obviously in the midst of an episode is crazy
100%
500 Days in UCLA. It's just the original version of this with different and more 2018 footage.
I agree I feel like that one was less pointed
That talk with Pharrell about treating life like a movie and method acting and being in character and Pharrell retorting with a reminder that you have to think about every step instead of simply being your character in the moment is so so so so poignant
Ye let his reputation, his ego, and his perceived behavior in public relation to that really drive his decisions over much of that time. And he never stepped back far enough to reassess. Just kept digging.
I don’t think he read a word of someone else’s work that entire document. I don’t think he saw anyone else’s opinion as something constructive to pull from a bit! He was a character and everyone else was a character, self absorbed in pushing their motifs and agendas and themes over each other
Yeah I think for the most part he can't like the line between "society" self.
External and internal circles.
Struggling to understand social constructions and the role of them in compounding systems.
He sees the individuals contribution "his own" to that of a group dynamic and cannot distinguish the lines between what is a colloquial construct and the thoughts of an individual.
He can't seem to separate them.
