And Kanye has always had the same thoughts and beliefs, he hates being put in a box and expected to just accept being told what to think/do. That's why we got moments like the Bush thing. It's the same thing during that era, he hated being told "Voting Democrats is the right thing to do, you're racist if you vote otherwise"
The only reason I have problem with using “eras” in this context is because Kanye never distanced himself from those views in the past. You see a stark difference between Tyler’s songs about rape and calling people f** to what he does now because he condemned it. Kanye likely still is on the same wave.

Tbh, I didn’t like how Trump supporters have been vilified, when half of America chose him. Vilify Trump, but his supporters are just ignorant people who’ve fallen into the wrong information stream. The media lacked empathy with how they spoke about people. And that’s why I didn’t have so much of a problem with Ye’s Trump stuff and found it a little refreshing. It also didn’t feel out of character cause I know Ye to be a contrarian. But my idea of Ye is obviously not a lot of people’s idea of Ye, and I think he steered his message into some weird corners during that era.
