To him, I think the desire to be talked about outweighs legitimate numbers. When people say he doesn’t care about sales, I used to say that’s bullshit, but I now believe it to be true, within reason. He has a dedicated enough fanbase to the point where if he drops after a relatively normal rollout, he could do 150-200k, but it would be under the radar. It would stay contained within his, albeit large, fanbase, and within the music bubble. When he does all of these other things, he breaks through that bubble and permeates the mainstream. Even if it doesn’t directly correlate to a huge bump in sales, what he really craves is the attention. Seeing his name in the news, as the top trend, etc.
