Love how the background of the cover is literally one of the default colors for school pictures.

We will never get an album full of tracks like Burn unfortunately.

Bummer. An album with gorgeous, burn, and life of the party type s***, man...

Kanye saying "Trav is Scott" to the heads of Adidas in that leaked meeting is a more memorable quotable than any line on this album outside of the jewish b**** line.

There's no introspective anchor to this album that keeps it interesting amidst all of its twists and turns. It's the "W Rizz" of Kanye albums, and it will renew his relevancy with gen z/gen alpha for the next 2-4 years, but not much else.

It's easy to hear his verse on Burn and call this album his best since Yeezus or whatever, but at least Pablo and DONDA had a shallow allure to them that was convincing if you squinted hard enough

pitchfork died a few weeks ago give it up man

Charisma on the mic is so important on the microphone. Kanye even when spitting basic is more engaging than a lot of rap purist faves

I love Little Simz but it just don’t feel the same.

He’s never made an album full of them, he keeps it interesting and variable but like he said those albums had an anchor of meaning, this didn’t have one

Full as in majority, not every track. MBDTF has a pretty consistent level of sample beats and good rapping from Kanye. Aside from Hell of a Life and somewhat AOTL. LR, CD. Kanye has flashes and the resources, which is why it’s a choice from him to do tracks that appeal to a youth that grew up on Carti, Uzi, etc.

  • Feb 11, 2024

Problematic/King is such a good outro run

  • Feb 11, 2024

i like this but maybe i still have this expectation for kanye based on his prior work still idk

wish those glimpses of undeniable greatness were just more consistent on here and i feel as if that's achievable with concentrated focus rather than the charade of the listening parties that have been occurring since donda

and also just some lines take me out of this where kanye is trying to hard to say something subversive or ""controversial"" given the context of the past few years

I genuinely don’t know what these dudes are talking about but I want to hear your perspective on this

Do you think MBDTF had an “introspective anchor”?

Hell no I don’t its mostly just fame and excess. It has a couple emotional moments but nah

a lot of the detail is in the chord voicings and harmonies they used, a song like wouldn't leave is one of his most sophisticated chord progressions but there is a lot of dryness in the production that makes it sound lifeless. Idk if it's intentional or just the product of recording in wyoming and utah for so long but you're definitely right on the lack of textures
