Yeezus is dark but still fairly upbeat and uptempo much like paid.

Vultures has its fair share of tracks like that too but when it gets dark it gets into unsettling territory

Paid grew on me the most, insane sing

I wasn’t even inherently digging the Christian content, it was great but I was more enjoying the character arc of caring deeply about family/something greater than himself

this just seems like an all around regression since not only is that gone, but there’s only a handful of fully formed vocal performances that aren’t for a) a joke or b) shock value

some of the original tracklist songs that had substance didn’t end up here, hoping those end up on a future volume

all in all not really feeling it but I think it’s out of frustration with the actual music rather than the subject matter, although i’m not really a fan of either
