one thing i'm worried about from the fallout of this is the increasingly negative connotation associated with "free independent thinkers". I will always stand by free independent thinking as a good thing but after hearing john legend and van lathan and many others bring up the term in a disparaging light it has me worried for the future - irreparable damage will be done to the cultural psyche if being a "free thinker" is associated w being racist, anti-semitic, etc
This is a really interesting point. I get where you’re coming from, but imo we’re already past that point. The phrase “free thinker” has been weaponized and parroted as justification for regressive talking points (ironically) since 2016 and earlier with conspiracies, then Trumpism, then anti-vax sentiment.
The sad truth is that a truly public sphere at the scale that the internet provides is no longer able to exist without hate speech and misinformation bubbling to the surface, and people being upset that they can’t spew that s*** freely has morphed the idea of free thought/speech into freedom from consequences. Which is inherently bad faith. Either of us could walk into Times Square and shout “active shooter” and I don’t think anyone would be surprised with how that would turn out. But the separation from self that the internet affords us means that the same thing feels much more tempting online and like it “should” (for some) come with less consequences.
I grapple with this idea often from a philosophical level. Imo, one of the most damming political decisions of modern times was Twitter banning Trump. Not because he didn’t deserve it, he absolutely did and pushed wherever he could toward the edge. But in drawing a line in the sand, we’ve permanently validated those who conflate “free thought” with “freedom from consequences” and that scares the hell out of me.

“When I say Jew, I mean the 12 lost tribes of Judah, the blood of Christ, who the people known as the race Black really are,” Ye added. “This is who our people are. The blood of Christ. This, as a Christian, is my belief.”
“Think about us judging each other on how white we could talk would be like, you know, a Jewish person judging another Jewish person on how good they danced or something.” He paused. “I mean, that's probably like a bad example and people are going to get mad at that s***.”

Carlson’s program also didn’t air a strange claim from Ye that “fake children” had been placed in his house to manipulate his children.
“I mean, like actors, professional actors, placed into my house to sexualize my kids,” he told Carlson. He referred to the “so-called son” of an associate, seemingly to imply the child was fake.

I am the true Jew. As a Christian, this is my belief.
love seeing a billionaire who feels disenfranchised because he can’t accumulate more billions trying to invalidate and appropriate thousands of years of culture from a fellow minority group because God told him he needs to create kinetic energy transference (forbidden knowledge to humans) and his children are being replaced by actors and being gang stalked by the other children at their birthday party
totally not off his meds btw and it’s wrong for you to insinuate that!
“Ye also made a strange comment, which Carlson didn’t air, about his plans to create “kinetic energy communities” built with “free energy,” a technology not currently available to human beings.”

Multiple rappers and prominent black figures have said something along these lines (Kendrick being one for example), it’s only antisemitic when Ye says it?
This site going to be back on his d*** when Donda 2 listening parties being the amount of times I've ready "it's over" type post on this site the last 5-7 years is unreal lol

Yes so why doesn’t it get any attention or criticism when they do it?
Kendrick literally has a major part of FEAR on DAMN dedicated to this line of thinking and nobody called him out for being anti-Semitic

Cause not every artist is as loud about it as Kanye, also nowhere near as big as him.
Two wrongs don’t make a right

FEAR. is widely discussed as one of Kendrick’s best songs and damn near always mentioned in discussions around that album and NO ONE brings up the voicemail at the end of the song as being “anti-Semitic”

Do you find it anti Semitic yourself?
If so it doesn’t matter what gets outrage or not. If you don’t have a problem with what ye or Kendrick said, that’s cool. Just don’t be surprised when people disagree or especially in ye’s case, find what he’s saying super offensive.

I personally don’t think it’s anti-Semitic but it’s not my place to tell a Jewish person what is and isn’t offensive.
My whole point is how come this same energy wasn’t applied to those two guys who have shared similar sentiments very recently

That last part especially. Ye obviously is at fault for his behavior, but these f***ing leeches are disgusting for exploiting it
