Revisited this album the last coupled days thanks to this thread, i still have some problems with it but its a fantastic album still. Purple hearts grew on me a lot, while silent hill i find just kinda boring now, one of kendrick's safest tracks imo.
Father time, count me out and to a lesser extent crown never fail to make me cry, geniunely always shed a tear whenever these come on. Father time especially, i don't think there's a man in the entire world who cant deeply relate to that track, it exposes so many uncomfortable truths.
Die hard a slap, playing this with the windows down as the sun goes down on a hot summer is magical. Rich Spirit in my top 10 Kendrick tracks ever, thats become my theme song i love it so much, insane confidence boost when im feeling down on myself.
Could write a whole lot more but i'll leave it at that. Despite my praise its still my 4th/5th fav Kendrick album depending on the day, but that's a testament to his incredible discography, and like many itt ive noticed (and got caught by surprise by) the increase in appreciation and the influence its having.
Very important album, no matter how much its sold or what you think about it
Also, i never knew how much n95 is beloved by Kendrick fans until i went to one of his shows, the whole stadium erupted i didnt expect that. Its a sleeper hit for sure
might be his most inconsistent work, cus the bad songs are really bad but the good songs are some of his all time best
been playing this album again. classic and grown man music.
does anyone remember the thread that discussed Kendrick not trying to be a savior and the a***ysis on that?
one of the best threads in terms of music discussion on this site
Going from this to gnx just depresses me
GNX has some heat on it like the heart pt. 6 and reincarnated, but nothing like these tracks.
Mr. Morale and 4:44 are special albums about being a man and learning from the mistakes of previous generations and our own
GNX is much better than this
Niggas started overrated tf out of mr morale post beef and I say this as someone who likes the album.
it is but
i think auntie diaries wasnt executed all that well
also that weird high pitch verse on n95 lol not a fan
…yeah idk bout this one fam
this prompted me to throw it on for a bit yeah I’m going with pissed off Kendrick
no idea why people are trynna disrespect GNX. frankly it's a perfect followup to an album that is very dark and downright depressing at times.
Mr. Morale is an album I can't listen to all the time, but when I do it sticks with me for long afterward. Real grown ass man therapy record.
Not to hate on GNX, because it's a damn fine crossover attempt, but the focus, inspiration and singularity just isn't there on the same level. Mr. Morale is an album nobody else could have made and it will be an important part of his legacy. GNX was a really good album that put an exclamation point on an incredible era.

yeah that high pitched verse is a bit modern Eminem sounding
