Keffiyah is cultural clothing, kufi is religious. You don’t have to be Muslim to wear a keffiyah but you do have to be Muslim to wear kufi
French is culturally Arab which is why he wears keffiyah or wears scarves like keffiyah all the time. We even see him in a thaub at times
