Hated that s*** at first and now I love it lmao
I mean it's subjective so you're not wrong if it spoke to you, but for me I grew up on Kanye literally since college dropout I f***ed with him. After all the s*** from back then with the heavy soul inspired stuff to change that drastically wasn't appealing to me. I always thought his old s*** was better lyrically and peaked right around MBDTF when he had some insane ghostwriters.
Even back on s*** he was doing with common and other soul style conscious artists I thought he was so good back then. Yeezus to me was way too basic, more rambling and less direct and maybe that's what he was going for but I honestly thought that whole minimalist s*** was just an excuse for weak bars.
Honestly man if you haven’t bumped it in a while I’d relisten. Maybe it’s me but funny enough to me Yeezus feels like his most focused piece of work. I love the lyrics because although he doesn’t delve deep into the topics, the things he brings up are so wild to me today how ahead of his time he was in certain things discussed on that album. Growing up and listening to it more and more I found myself fascinated by the lyrical content, and overall it’s always been my favorite Ye album since it came out. Being that you were a Ye fan since CD and I was not I can definitely understand how unsettling it can be to see one of your favorite rappers completely switch lanes. It’s kinda what we’re going through with the Jesus stuff right now.
Best production and mixing on any Kanye album tbh
Lyrics dope but not on CD, LR, MBDTF level
Kanye really dropped:
808s > MBDTF > Yeezus
One after another...
Let that sink in
greatest album run ever
ngl this is a very personal thing but i set black skinhead as my alarm for 8am classes for like a whole semester and now i associate that song w PANIC n suffering and i cannot enjoy it anymore
It's his last great album.
i c where u r coming from but i will still disagree bc i cannot sit and let kanYe slander go unchecked
I'm not trying to be a d***, I'm actually curious, how old are you?
I was in college when The College Dropout came out.
Been a Ye fan since 2002 when he was on "We Are The Champions".
I'm sure your favorite Ye album is probably MBDTF or CD.
