Really has one of the best albums this year… despite the bigger/younger artists dropping lol
nigga damn near 50
I thought it was over for him after SD - HHID - UN - LFIG
All the people who said he didn't deserve the Grammy for KD1 punching the air
He’s going to f*** around get another one for 2
And I’m sitting over mind blown
It’s 2021 not 1996

All this without corny gimmicks or drawn out "beef"
I mean it’s good, really good. But it’s a chore to come back to. Really hard to be in the mood for it. Nas is missing that special sauce that still makes me come back to his first three albums decades later. But it’s understandable, dude is 50.
I feel like Nas just finally found a producer that can transition his sound and help him keep up with the game evolving while staying himself. Plus he never seemed to get lazy with his verses or delievery like Hov does at times

Kd1 was mid tho
KD2 is leagues ahead

It’s missing the grittiness tbh

Fair opinion
But let me apply historical context
Nas prime was 93-98 with a second wind 2001-03
Bill Clinton hadn’t been impeached yet
Donald Trump was still universally loved
Today’s hottest artist weren’t even born yet
Hip hop has evolved 10-15 times over since Nas’ prime years
Legacy artists (KRS, Rakim, Face, Snoop, Ghostface, Rae) have dropped great work past their prime but it’s rare
KD1 never left my rotation and 2 has been in rotation since it dropped
Nas has always been an elite rapper and storyteller. Hit-boy is the perfect producer to keep him modern while not sacrificing that gritty NY sound he came out with
Kd1 was mid tho
KD2 is leagues ahead
Don't matter still won and KD2 gonna continue the streak
KD1 and KD2 are great projects.
My dream tho is for a Nas x Madlib project I need this in my lifetime PLEASE

When you a goat you can still do it whether you 19 or 60, nas career been too long for him not to know how to adapt and still be himself

Breh you make it sound so easy
We can oversimplify the most complex things just saying and typing them
But imagine Travis or Carti dropping great albums in 2041….
Hip hop in 2041 ain’t going to sound nothing like it did in 2014/2015 or 2021
This s*** is wild

I wasn’t tryna dimish him it’s just a fact of the matter niggas throw around the word goat a lot but nas been rapping since the 90s and stayed relevant, and I ain’t never heard him try and be a young nigga or some s***

With trav and carti that’s really a time thing cause a lot of what they do is aesthetic, not that I don’t like they music
