this drake album (21 barely on it) is perfectly serviceable but the way people gassing it up 12 hours after it dropped really shows that there is a drought in terms of massive event albums in the genre atm. Drake flopped this year, Kendrick dropped a good album that most people listened to once and dipped, Kanye is a weird anti semite who can't finish a sentence never mind a song. Who is left in that category? Travis? We need new stars badly!

Drake stans gonna be Drake stans, they’ll gas up anything he does regardless of quality or the surrounding context

I do agree that the mainstream needs new faces to come through with event albums to mix things up, but the industry is geared more towards bite sized singles to spread on TikTok than full length projects at this point, so it’s the old guard pushing that medium
