There used be several pool rooms in the Bay Area that had Keno Boards. In my humble opinion they were developed to allow those people without the pool skills to compete and gamble.
They were made out of wood (or later on plastic) with 18 holes. They were randombly numbered one through fifteen with two kenos and one double keno.
They were a very popular ring game although as always guys who couldn't match up in a pool game would resort to high stakes keno games just to be in action.
The ring games worked like this : A set amount was established for the high score and an amount for kenos. If you managed to get the 5 ball up and it stayed in the 12 hole you scored 12 points. But if it landed in the 5 hole you got 5 points and everyone paid you for a KENO, if it landed in the Keno whole you got paid from everyone and double Keno you got paid double.
If you shot a ball up and it say knocked out a ball sitting in the double KENO hole and your ball landed in it you got credit for the double keno and the ball that had been there fell into another hole you got the points for that ball also. I have seen a ball fly up on the board and knock four balls out of their holes and make a big point score. I have also seen that happen and all of the balls roll off the board getting no points
The Tooth has taken this to a new level by rolling the balls instead of shooting them with a cue and as usual likes to bet high.
Now that I have explained the way this game works I would like someone to explain to me how you "GET THE NUTS"?
To those of you who had negative replys to my nit/nitwit post do not deserve a reply as you have only confirmed my statements.
To the guy that offered me the 8. No thanks. But even though I no longer play I would probably come out of retirement and play you some one pocket even.
To those of you who had a positive reply thank you and I hope you get all the good rolls in and out of the pool room.
