I feel a obligation to show people new ideas
And if you wanna hear 'em, there go two right here
Make America Great Again had a negative perception
I took it, wore it, rocked it, gave it a new direction
Added empathy, care and love and affection
And y'all simply questionin' my methods
this is so KANYE
still love this..very underrated imo
Legendary verse, when this dropped time stopped. Love the discourse in this song.

i would be lot happy if u still have links to og ktt threads when it dropped

Iconic. Kanye sounds like an adult explaining to a five year old that it's ok for people to have different opinions. And the fact that so many different communities got mad at him for putting on a hat prove his point that "all blacks gotta be democrats, man, we ain't made it off the plantation."

Damn I rapped that and it flowed well why did it sound wierd in the record though?
politics aside this song had potential to be a moment but the beat doesnt fit, ti literally said nothing and Ye got 0 flow on it
Imagine taking a beat this good, and completely squandering it to not only put misguided lyrics over it but delivering them like absolute s***
this was one of the final nails in Kanyes creative musical excellence coffin. Everything went downhill from tmz
it's a cool song cus it tries to invite the idea of conversation, both in ye's lyrics and in the whole form of the song itself
sadly the ppl i was around at the time just laughed it off n turned to memes bout how kanye is a racist
i honestly think type of reaction may be part of why ye has gone the quieter route with JIK and his more recent interviews. this ye (the album) era, if we can call it that, was in some part about kanye trying to preach "try to have conversations instead of choosing to immediately hate the people who have different perspectives"
that clearly didn't work out tho cus people like memes, they like the quips, and they like the gratification of pointing at a democrat or republican (there are more dichotomies this applies to; this was probably the most relevant one though given the time) and saying "yep that person absolutely sucks and i do not need to do anything but say that". it's easy, definitive, self-reinforcing, and many on your side (regardless of what your side is) are gonna say you're perfectly right, which is also reinforcing
but now he's quieter. he still holds his views but he's no where near as zealous with them as he was in 2018. n he's growing his biz so that he can create some of the s*** he wants to create, like homes, and i dunno where he's at re: prison reform, but i wouldn't doubt kim is working on that angle as well given what she's tryn to do w/ passing her bar exam or whatever california thing she's doing. personally, i think this is a better approach cus action will still beget change, and i don't think any celebrity has the power from their word alone to really present challenging ideas to the masses expecting them to be accepted. especially when, as said before, many people prefer quips anyway.

Too bad no one gave a f*** what Ye had to say lmao

Fire post. It’s pretty sad that Ye wasn’t successful in starting a national dialogue because people can’t even take the subject seriously.
Too bad no one gave a f*** what Ye had to say lmao
Bruh there were multiple news cycles about Kanye’s interactions with Trump, and we talking about it two years later don’t pretend like it’s forgotten.

Yea but to this day it’s “Kanye’s a coon Kanye sold out Kanye hates his own people” not listening to a word he said on this song.

i dont like the song, but you hit the nail on the head. i just wish he´d dropped an album about unification, thats what i was really expecting when i saw him wear the kaepernick shirt with the maga hat. i think he realized what you said, but still didnt give up. he´s just tryna do it in a different way
im pretty sure kanye would be dead by now if he wouldve kept going the way he did
pablo is my favorite album of all time, but its better the way it went
most of the yeezus merch was centered around death (i suggest taking a look at opt archive on insta if you dont know that channel, has unused kanye art)
life of pablo was advertised as “album of the life”
his erratic antics and how wild he was absolutely peaked into the saint pablo tour. he didnt sleep for days, was dehydrated and going crazy. he was addicted to opioids. there was a lot of crazy, dangerous s*** going on around that time. i miss 2014-2016 ye so f***ing much, but in retrospect id rather have it how it is now
i dont know how i need to explain how he is better now, dudes a billionaire and smiling everytime you see him
