I always found it weird how Public Enemy rarely gets brought up when it comes to old school NY rap despite their impact.

Even Tribe gets brought up more than them.

i feel like Chuck D isn't talked about enough

especially among the younger kids

even if you don't like the music, i feel like you gotta be inspired by what they stood for

their music represented
something more than just a song

i miss that weight in a lot of today's music

i don't understand why people felt
like the south couldn't rap back then

Lack of information back then, the regional guidelines were more restrictive to where people judged the south and stigmatized them to “cowboys” nshit, when they really didn’t know. That’s what created the drive for the south to show and prove that they took the art of rap seriously.
