His way of play is playing pure noise and i like some Sonic Youth

Um noise rock is a genre you know lol and this is a horrible take. There probably the most influential alternative band and that style of playing was mimicked all through the 90s by other alt bands

Actually I'd put Tosin Abasi up there as well

    No particular order

    1. The greatest guitarist of all time imo in arguably a top 3 favorite band for me. the dead were the epitome of rockstars and the lifestyle.
also the guide to many lsd/mushroom trips:

    JERRY GARCIA

    2. a lot of people don't realize how influential 80s hardcore still is today. arguably my favorite punk band from this time period is Black Flag.

    GREG GINN

    3. Nirvana and Kurt usually get all the shine for the 90s but Sonic Youth is 10x better imo.

    THURSTON MOORE

    4. honestly an acquired taste for a lot of people but Frank was ahead of his time

    FRANK ZAPPA

    5. honestly doesn't need an explanation

    JIMI

Love that you said Jerry Garcia and Greg Ginn since the Grateful Dead are randomly Ginn’s favorite band.

I remember when I found that out I was initially confused but it makes sense I guess bc both scenes are super counter-culture

I've seen bobby from the dead wearing Misfits gear too and they happen to be another one of my favorite bands so it overlaps way more than I first thought

Adrian Belew and Walter Becker are up there for sure

I recently started to appreciate how much I loved thurston tbh. That’s one creative mf wit the strings

i dont know which SY member it was (maybe all of them lol) but i remember reading they would use vastly diff string gauges for each string to get all sort of crazy tunings. incredible stuff really

it's a deep dive bro bc the best stuff is the live stuff..I honestly can't remember the last time I listened to a studio album.

I'd say the most accessible and popular live show is Cornell 5/8/1977

that show has my favorite Morning Dew
