neon· editedfalse, energy usage varies massively some Blockchains use 10,000,000+ times the power per transaction and that's been falling more and more with upgrades
further if you look past the present, crypto could save electricity compared to the cost of securing databases from threats
power usage would be far lower using crypto based assets as networks advance and scale, a Blockchain could do searches or validate certificates of authenticity for far less power than the current infrastructure we have through the power of zero knowledge proofs
right now the technology is very primitive
