i feel like the longer this went on the more apparent it was that yeezy gap was good for Kanye most of all and of questionable benefit to the overall health of gap. yeah stock went up at a time and ppl were checking gap stores for his s*** but I feel like the overall benefit to the wider gap output and ecosystem was minimal at best. Like I think at least with adidas he put some spotlight on other adidas models, brought some buzz to the brand as a whole. Who's checking for (the bad tbh) balanciaga gap stuff and also looking at mainline gap stuff? feels like a big disconnect ultimately

ye idk how well he doin with occasional, inconsistent drops. for a brand this successful, it moves like a ig clothing brand, nowhere near h&m or a luxury brand.

The disconnect was GAP trying to use Ye’s name to price gouge his fanbase when he stated hella times the whole point of the partnership was affordable clothing. Let alone just using the aesthetic Ye provided to them put their own s*** out without the YZY branding for cheaper price points just like Adidas did with the slides and whatnot

I've a lot of respect for Kanye's output over the years but it feels likes he gotten increasingly erratic in terms of projects. Even yeezy adidas which should be the crown jewel of his portfolio feels like he hasn't been interested for a couple years even before the recent stuff. Even if he's going 'independent' he's gonna need third parties who might be less forgiving if he just gets stuck on something else.

adidas is easily his best venture and it's not even close, at least in terms of revenue and as a business move. when it comes to clothing he hasn't been consistent in releasing, style and seasons since early yeezy season, and im pretty sure he had a backer

it's weird cause as a brand yeezy/yeezy season has no identity fashion wise lol. Its gone from being a margiela clone, to calabasas/tlop merch, shia's closet, to budget balenci. he's still nowhere close to producing enough stuff for a store like h&m. he makes like 10 items, so idk when that will make progress

yeah, I think it's one thing if your personal style shifts around and it's given us some interesting and influential imo ye fits but it's conversely a pretty bad look for anything hoping to establish itself as a 'brand'
