first 2 albums kinda boring imo but the live versions of those songs go hard as s***

Felt the same for a while too. After falling in love with American Heartbreak, his first two just didn't scratch the itch I was looking for.

But after a while, and mostly due to just putting all his music in a playlist and shuffling, I really started to like those two albums. The stripped-down production and "inexperienced" (for lack of a better word) songwriting became a really nice compliment to the more hearty arrangements of American Heartbreak and Summertime Blue EP. And now I dont think he has any weak albums.

Elisabeth and DeAnn have a handful of songs each that are in my list of faves from him: Man That's Never Known You, Codeine Pills Pt. 1, Hope Again, Condemned, Come As You Are, Leaving, Sweet DeAnn, Revival, From a Lover's Point of View, Dont Give Up on Me, Flying or Crying, Heading South, Snow, Loom

Those first 5 or 6 are top tier ZB songs for me tbh. Keeping in mind that he has like 30+ songs I'd consider "top tier" lol

For me it’s the difference in energy. The delivery on Condemned album version makes it sound a bit generic or background music, the live version brings out the real soul/potential of the song

So much that you cant really tell the diff between AH and pre AH songs in the live album

But who knows bc i felt that way about a few AH songs that ended up growing on me

Yeah the live album is really great for that. You can tell he wanted those early song performances to match his later stuff in concert. Plus the crowd really helps a lot

yeah, i still like the first 2 and they grew on me a bit but the live versions so much better (mostly cuz of huge vocal improvement). live version of God Speed is like a top 5 song by him
