The Bad Guys did a QT homage so what gives lol

I might’ve liked this better than the first tbh even if they did the same twist

Judy and Nick just make for a good pairing I’m looking forward to their next mystery. I liked how they used the buddy cop aspect as a metaphor for a relationship. Not that they’re the first to do that but still they did it well

Also the “down the tube” joke was clever

I thought they still kinda did it. This and the shining nods were tasteful, not OD

    LOVED IT! S*** SLAPPED!

I loved the new side characters & the new parts of Zootopia they explored & the plot line in general was very well thought out

Def thought it was a worthy sequel. The Disney & Pixar sequels I’d say were genuinely worthy successors to the OG are (no order):

    Toy Story 2
    Monsters University
    Inside Out 2
    Zootopia 2

The hate for it was so forced at the time.

Sure Pixar put out a couple of stinkers before it (Cars 2 & Brave, which was more 'mid' than bad), but some people let those be a sign that Pixar has started to fall off, which tainted their perception of MU right off the bat

MU had a lot of friggin’ heart to it and an incredibly powerful message at the end

My feelings on the movie are overall positive, but a bit more mixed than the first.

The first is genuinely one of my favorite Disney movies of the millennium (Not counting Pixar here ofc).

The good? Nick and Judy. Those 2 are so much fun to watch and you really find yourselves rooting for them as characters and as a duo. Their chemistry and the way they're written is the glue of the entire movie.

The animation + the score are also superior to the first. The animation is breathtakingly gorgeous in parts and the score is vastly superior to the first in every way. Michael Giacchino COOKED with his score, throwing so many interesting ideas at the wall and somehow they all worked together very well.

What I didn't like as much was the pacing. The first movies pacing was perfect, beat by beat. It gave the movie room to breathe when it needed to, which strengthened the scenes that were faster paced. This movie is the equivalent of running on a treadmill. Even when it slows down...it's still speed walking. The closest thing you get to a slower scene is THE scene of the movie (Not spoiling but IYKYK), and even that scene finds Judy practically rushing through her dialogue as if someone is holding a timer up behind Nick, to keep it moving.

Another thing I didn't like as much either was the insistence of including every character who played some sort of part from the first one and shoehorning them into this. Mr. Big and Flash retuning for a brief moment to help move the plot forward? Fair enough. Duke Weaselton getting a random cutaway? Why??? It wasn't even a particularly funny cutaway either.

With that being said, Zootopia 2 was a successful followup, and im not just referring to box office (HOLY S***). I hope when they do make Zootopia 3, that they aren't afraid to move away from what worked well in the first one a bit more and take a couple more breaths throughout.

I get it, like I really do. And I dont think it takes away from the movie enough for it to be detrimental.

I just think the balance there could've been...refined a bit more. Maybe needed one more script polish.
