    Great album

It’s just that, I found his music mid and corny before that so even tho the roll out was super creative and original, I just couldn’t get into it with the same hype as y’all back then for those reasons

My fav joint is Telegraph Ave (Oakland)

I was obsessed w this album. looking back I can see why some thought it's corny, it def is in some ways. I do still think it's among the albums that set the bar for me in regards to ambitious storytelling and worldbuilding through music tho.

production on this is just immaculate, love the sound collage-y cinematic sound, mix of hard rap beats that naturally segue into pop and even edm and Donald ofc is a charismatic af voice guiding you through the whole thing. and what I'll always respect is that all the heady concepts and nerdy references and details aside it's real emotional music first.

rewatching Atlanta rn I definitely think that everything I loved about this project was realized in there w so much more maturity and finesse, it maybe overshadows this album for me a bit by now, but it also serves as an affirmation of how blown away I was by it when it first came out, the vision was def crystal clear here. still a very special listen.

album statements, yeah. big time agree.

these have become so rare since Ye has gone off the cliff mentally. 2010s was such a special time w Kanye Kendrick Frank etc just raising the bar every couple years and inspiring all these other artists to go crazy too. it def feels like we're lacking pop cultural touchstones like that atm

Listened to this today for the first time in awhile. Some corny bars to be expected with Gambino especially at that stage but it’s held up extremely well
