One was 9 min and 29 seconds of slowly torturing a guy to death over $20, the other is a very f***ed up and sad, but legitimate use of deadly force to save someone else’s life. This one's a whole different animal from the George Floyd stuff, while it was excessive, it's justified. Thats a tough call to make in the moment. A second later and someone innocent might have been stabbed. As much as I'd like to feel for her, you can't attempt to stab people in broad ass daylight in front of a cop and expect it go smoothly.

If he is firing weapon, he is already electing to use lethal force. How is firing 1 or 3 shots in that circumstance any more or less excessive than lethal force?

That is excessive force. The chances of surviving 1 or 2 shots is a lot higher than surviving 4 or 5 shots.

Because it was more force than necessary. Lethal force doesn't always mean death, but firing up to 4 or 5 shots when only 1 was necessary is damn near a guarantee death

He could've tried his taser, but realistically that girl didn't need 4 rounds to get the picture either. If her intention was murder she wouldn't have been the one that called the cops, s*** just got a little rowdy for a second.

Imo the officer had a choice between ending a life to save another or to watch someone get stabbed to death in front of him as a police officer.

Not just that, he didn't do s*** to deescalate the situation, his weapon was drawn and leveled the second she ran by. He didn't warn her he would fire, He didn't even tell her drop the weapon only "Get down, get down", he didn't even command her attention she didn't once acknowledge the words he was saying or show she even knew he was referring to her consider the fight happening literally next to him.
