Ive never been to cuba im not sure if you have either
But im 99% certain if you had to choose between the standard of living in whatever country your in now vs Cuba you’d choose Cuba. And yes the sanctions are harmful but at the end of the day their relying on a system thats proven not as beneficial to the average person as you commies like to think
There isn’t anywhere else on the planet with a commie system for a reason
if you compare the quality of life conditions in cuba to any comparable third world country, you would note that they have incredibly high relative quality of life.
especially regarding third world countries, capitalism is specifically designed to increase or maintain poverty while extracting wealth to the first world. socialism is the only system in which we can alleviate the intentional underdevelopment and global impoverishment of humanity around the world.
i have some more reading regarding the studies of this if youd like.
might wild out for a perma. why am I here
Okay your right
Once communism is established its gonna be all rainbows and sunshine
You win

US when Cuba tried to get an undersea internet backbone cable run to it: “absolutely not.”
US when Cuba has a small protest over material conditions created by the US embargo: “wtf why don’t they have internet?!?!?”

Theres plenty of info outhere saying otherwise

Calm down take a breath and stop talking about me and focus on the topic at hand

Why does a communist country need the USA resources to function?
btw did u guys know that 82% of starving children live in countries where food is fed to animals, and the animals are eaten by western countries.
capitalism baby!
Theres plenty of info outhere saying otherwise

But okay
objectively not true and in fact global poverty has drastically increased over the past 50 years outside of socialist countries.
the reason why people can claim "poverty is lower than ever" is because of china single handedly lifting 800 million people out of poverty
CUBA !!!
Incredibly improved quality of life, freed the slaves, drastically increased literacy, rated highest central and southern american education system behind mexico, highest doctors per capita in the world, allows poor people from around the world free education to be a doctor as long as they promise to practice medicine in the poor communities they come from, they even send doctors to the US for humanitarian aid.
all under incredibly long lasting and crippling sanctions that are still mostly in place today. despite the US empire's attempts to choke the country to death, they continue to improve and grow and evolve in many inspirational ways.
Also arbitrary arrests and censorship of all forms of media
just in time for when MIT predicts societal collapse
nice
Link? Probably nonsense
Why does a communist country need the USA resources to function?
Do you think the US could produce all the stuff it imports and exist in any form?
objectively not true and in fact global poverty has drastically increased over the past 50 years outside of socialist countries.
the reason why people can claim "poverty is lower than ever" is because of china single handedly lifting 800 million people out of poverty
Yes china achieved that with a market system

Cuba really needs the US, huh
As long as rich people make money off of these industries that they can put into lobbying politicians who we have no way of holding accountable once elected, it will never happen without radical changes
There's nothing really stopping UBI in a society with runaway inflation
Why does a communist country need the USA resources to function?
it's the US actively preventing any country in the entire financial sphere from participating in any trade whatsoever with cuba
The US enforces its embargo extra territorially, meaning outside of its own territory much more than you might think. The US is the world’s financial center, and in order to safely trade with cuba, a company needs to have literally no assets whatsoever in the USA itself because otherwise they’ll be at risk of freezing or seizure for breaking the embargo now let’s say that you’re a big company and you’ve got to choose between access to the US or to cuba, would you choose the USA the world’s biggest economy and its financial hub or would you choose cuba, a tiny little island nation of 11 million people? obviously you’re gonna choose the USA. it’s crafted with that in mind, and that’s part of the embargo’s design.
the embargo also specifically targets subsidiaries too punishing their parent companies if they trade with cuba. And what about the US government claims about food and medical exemptions regarding the embargo? well in practice they barely even actually exist they’re intentionally designed to be as unclear as possible in order to create legal uncertainty and since businesses are naturally risk-averse most of them simply choose not to deal with cuba at all, rather than jumping through all of those legal hoops and trying to avoid all of those little caveats that the embargo has in it, those that still try anyway can still have their shipments vetoed for whatever reason the authorities decide so in practice shipping food or medicine from the US to cuba is so prohibitively difficult that most companies don’t even bother to try and that’s intended and it always has been the point of the supposed food and medical exemption, it is not legitimate humanitarian concern, but rather a way for the US government to claim that since these exemptions exist on paper, the sanctions aren’t harming the Cuban people, it is a smokescreen.
