It is really this simple.
A cow is not a cat or dog.
They exist in different content within culture.
That is why in the context of this being humorous it is a different than if it was cat or dog.
Sure we raised and bred cats and dogs to be our companions while we bred cows for food, but the fact still remains that cows are just as intelligent as cats/dogs.
