Doesn't mean the album wasn't loved. Also, I love GKMC/TPAB. I think they're excellent albums. I've said that multiple times. But it's a blatant LIE acting like any Kendrick project has ever gotten any negative reviews. He doesn't know what a negative review means lol.

Im not talking bout critic reviews dumbass. Once again, mad ppl can tell you what the timing was like when it first dropped.

TPAB was a very divisive album to the point ppl was complaining there was no bangers on it.

Critic bait a real thing. You make an album about black people having to struggle, sprinkle some social issues, some alternative music styles and you guaranteed for white music reviewers to have a hard on lol

People acting like critic bait art isn't a thing are very stupid. There are movies that are made as bait to garner acclaim win Oscars. That's a known thing. There's music that's made to appeal to critics as well.

From like 2014, any album by a black artist that's half-decent and talks about racism/black issues is automatically guaranteed great reviews lmao. That's just a fact. Anyone denying that is dumb.

It got so bad that critics almost started acting like if you were a black rapper, you HAD TO talk about black issues or else. Remember when Drake would get attacked for being silent on black issues/not talking about that in his music? That didn't start till around 2014/2015 lol.

So KTT1 = the real world? Got it.

And? The album doesn't have bangers. That's a fact. What's wrong with people saying that?

Y'all are so f***ing stupid that you view people rightfully stating that the album didn't have bangers as something negative when that's a fact. The album was also a bit preachy. Another fact. Same way MMATBS is preachy and turned people off. Those are all facts.

Still, the general consensus for TPAB was that it was a masterpiece. Stop trying to act like that album was victimized or hated because it never was.

TPAB was so divisive that it won every award it was nominated for and is regarded as one of the greatest albums of all time. Must be tough having to go through all of that.

Kendrick stans really reaching to make it look like that man has had a tough time with album reception

Everything he does is seen as genius even when it's not because that's just how people view him lmao.

Which album is critic bait? TPAB, DAMN or GKMC? Or Hot Steppers?

TPAB wasn't universally praised, there was a lot of the "ehh jazz", "critic bait", "mlk raps", "boring", comments. That album still gets those comments but it also wasn't completely s***ted on. Recieve a lot of acclaim and dub instant classic by a lot.

I didn't say any of those albums were critic bait but critic bait in music is definitely a thing.

Stop it. There's no such thing as "universal acclaim" because there's always some people who don't think a piece of art is great.

TPAB was loved by most people. The reviews/the year-end placements and the accolades it got all verify that.

The rap world called it an instant classic and the music world agreed with a resounding yes.

Using comments from a few music forums to suggest it wasn't liked doesn't matter. Millions of people thought it was a great album. That trumps the hundreds or a few thousand who didn't think that.

TPAB was divisive though. Critics loved it but that don't mean everybody else in general loved it when it came out. Very different reception from DAMN

? You must of not been there during the TPAB era. No one said forum comments, people were saying those comments in real life. Obviously what I mean by universal praise is majority consensus that it is loved, like gkmc

Yeah and that's all that matters. The people who didn't like the album were a minority. That's a fact so why do they matter?

You can only consider what the majority consensus around an album is.

I'd take GKMC, DAMN and Morale over TPAB. A true "critic bait" album if there ever was one lol KTT absolutely hated it when it dropped too--which is the funniest part, considering now its probably this sites favorite Kendrick album

As vulnerable as you can tell he was being on MM, you can also tell with that album and the leaks that he was havin a lotta fun on both DAMN and MM.

I feel like TPAB era was exhausting and prolly took a lot outta him that it’d be humanly impossible to replicate that type of zone.
